When Mike (my hubby) told me he was going to run a marathon last year I kind of thought he was nuts. "Do you know how many training runs and hours and upon hours you have to run BEFORE you run a marathon?" I asked.
"Yep. It's on my bucket list and now is the time to do it," he said.
From that point on I knew he was serious about it and I was not about to get in his way. The truth is - the moment he said he was going to run it I was already so proud of him. Because when Mike says he is going to do something, he does it.
So for this 10 on 10 I decided to share our trip to Chicago where my inspiring husband ran his first Marathon. Chicago is one of the coolest cities in America. Hands down. The best part of the trip? Seeing Mike's smiling face after the race. It was one of my favorite moments in life. Knowing he had accomplished this incredible feat.
So here is Chicago. Buildings so high that it's hard to see to the top of them. The energy of this city is pulsing and electric!
Our first stop after checking into the hotel was the Expo where all the runners had to pick up their bib numbers and race loot. There was this cool sign labeled "OWN CHICAGO" where the runners left little notes for loved ones. This sign was on the course for the marathon. So cool!
The architecture of the buildings in downtown Chicago is worth the trip if nothing else! There are so many artistic touches to this city that make it unique and beautiful.
Here's Mike and I hanging out in Millennium Plaza. He is feeling the nerves here!
The morning of the race! He's ready! GO MIKE!
It's on! This is at mile marker 16.5.
Finished 26.2 miles. SO PROUD! What a huge accomplishment. I love you, Mike! You are such an inspiration to all of us.
Next up on the 10 on 10 circle is the fabulous Nicole of Nicole Dina Photography. Thank you for stopping by!
